Meet the Inventor
Patrick Doyle — The Mind Behind QuietStroke™
I’ve been a golfer all of my adult life and my love of the game and competitive nature have me on the course playing and practicing several times each week. I’ve always had a strong short game, but a couple of years back, I was struggling with my putting, or so I thought. I went to my teaching pro friend (who played on the PGA tour and the Senior tour) to get some help and after watching me putt, he said, “Pat, there’s nothing technically wrong with your stroke, you just need to get out of your head.” He went on to tell me that many tour players will, after lining up their putt, close their eyes, or focus on a spot a few inches in front of the ball or even on the hole itself as they roll the ball.
So, how do you train that? How do you train yourself to repeat a technically strong stroke without letting your brain get in the way and becoming “ball bound?” I went to work in my garage to come up with a way to effectively get the ball out of sight during practice and that was the beginning of what is now the QuietStroke training device. My concept slowly evolved, through multiple iterations and trial and error, into the only putting and chipping training aid that hides the ball from view while you practice your putts and short chip shots.
In my journey to fine-tune my invention I ran across the cutting-edge sports psychology concept known as “quiet eye” which was proven to help elite athletes with focus, motor control and decision making under pressure. That highly researched method has been applied to many sports and supports what training with QuietStroke delivers. The ability to focus the mind on the stroke and not on hitting the ball is a game changer and I’m very proud that I have developed a way to help others experience the same “aha” moments that completely reset my short game. All golfers of every level want to improve their game and QuietStroke will help you stop overthinking, fine-tune your visual focus and boost your confidence by developing consistently successful shots under pressure.
I can promise you, if you practice regularly with QuietStroke and “get your brain out of the game,” you’ll develop the mental focus for a smooth, effective, reliable stroke and you will see the difference on your scorecard.
